about

This Three Part Shri Ram Trilogy was born out of Part 1. Anger, Part 2. Surrender and Part 3. Acceptance/Unity/Joy.
I find that chanting helps me move through the whole gamut of human emotion which these days can be quite intense to say the least. So in part I. I am chanting the Sanskrit 'Jai Ram Seta Ram' to help me move through and express my anger. When we chant to 'Ram' which is the Divine in masculine form and respectively to 'Seta', the Divine in feminine form, we are celebrating or calling upon the duality of our existence and the apparent polarity of opposites that can either tear themselves apart, or join together as One. After the anger and the release of Part 1. I move into Part 2. which again challenges the relationship of opposites, seeking understanding and heart opening love to enter in. 'Seta Ram Jai Seta Ram,' in compromise, in surrender.
Part 3. Is the resolve that comes when we embrace the nature of this our existence, with all its bumps and turns, and seemingly cemented walls. One of the first songs I ever learned to play on guitar was when I was in my teens. It was the Youngblood's version of Chet Power's 'Get Together'. Even as a teen, I can recall the feel good that these sweet lyrics and music brought to my heart. I can recall even then the struggling/questioning purpose of my confused existence on this earth specifically in relation to fellow students in school that didn't feel quite so 'fellow' at all. This song, even then, brought up a lightness and a unifying pure heart that still resonates whenever I hear it today. And so the harmonious 'coming together' of opposite sides of the same coin, Male/Female coming together to express the Oneness truth. "C'mon people now, smile on your brother everybody get together try to love one another right now."

*Deep gratitude to fellow songwriter/chant artist Brenda McMorrow for lending her beautiful voice to this song.
"Come on people now, smile on your 'sister' too!
Also, to complete the trilogy Girish, Wynne Paris and Ben Leinbach lend their inspiring vocals to this closing of the Shri Ram Trilogy. 'Shri Ram Jai Jai Rama Jai Rama' Victory to the Oneness Divine!

lyrics

Love is but a song we sing
Fears the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Though the dove is on the wing
You may not know why

C'mon people now smile on your brother
Everybody get together try to love one another right now

Sri Ram Jai Jai Rama Jai Rama
Sri Ram Jai Jai Rama

Ahhhhh Rama

If you hear this song I sing
You will understand
Listen, you hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hands
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at you command

C'mon people now smile on your brother
Everybody get together try to love one another right now
